Family History
Parents: Father – Sutok
Mother – Arina Chenzira of the Sixth House of Betazed

Background Information:
Emily’s parents weren’t married. Her mother, being of the Sixth house, had a reputation to protect. Although they cared deeply for each other, Sutok refused to marry Arina as it meant he would have to leave Vulcan.
After a time of arguing, they finally came to an agreement. Sutok would raise Emily as his ward on Vulcan until she was of age to choose her life path. Then, when she was mature enough to understand the weight of her mother’s position, Arina would join their lives.

Emily trained as a Vulcan would, however at the age of sixteen her Betazoid abilities became a problem. She had a hard time containing her empathic and telepathic abilities. As both Vulcans and Betazoids are telepathic the combination made it difficult for Emily to focus amongst the emotionally silent Vulcans.
Having been ahead in her training, her Father decided to send her to a place where she could find structure as well as more emotional companions. Her request to join Starfleet at seventeen was granted however she was not allowed to graduate until the appropriate age, despite entering a full year early.

Personality
Emily is pleasant enough…well as pleasant as a Vulcan can be. She’s naturally curious. When it comes to her work she’s dedicated and rather rigid in her work ethic. She enjoys working by herself and mostly spends her free time this way as well.

Hobbies
Emily’s personal interests reflect her Vulcan upbringing. She enjoys gardening, reading and meditating in her spare time.

Starfleet History

Academy Training: Emily was a dedicated student, although the way Starfleet dealt with its cadets compared to her schools on Vulcan were polar opposites. On Vulcan she was taught to subdue her emotions and to follow logic. In the strict environment she failed to have issue with their ways, however when in Starfleet she found that her Betazoid sense made it difficult to remain stone faced and emotionally blank. The classrooms were loud, the lectures sometimes went off track and there were holes in the curriculum.

As Emily grew accustomed to their ways, some of her instructors felt that it would be beneficial if she explored the emotional side of her personality. This was a confusing idea and Emily was sure her father would object. However, as she was already adjusting to the differences on Earth, she decided that it would be worth a try. Over time she found a love for her emotions and the ones present in the world around her. As much as she knew it wasn't how she was raised, Emily slowly became hardened to the Vulcan ways she had been raised.

Despite all this, her Father’s voice was ever present. At times it was as if a Betazoid sat on one shoulder and a Vulcan on the other, continually whispering in her ears. It was because of this she could be caught between two worlds in all aspects of her life.

To avoid confusion she made the decision to appear Vulcan and to stay 'Vulcan'. Although she is verbally more aggressive and less refined when triggered. Many regard her as a relaxed form of Vulcan. Few know of her mixed blood, as she tends to not speak of it often.

Her graduation from Starfleet still remains to be one of her greatest personal achievements. She survived the classes and challenges posed to her. She learned and grew. Emily was confident in who she was, and what she wanted to be in future years.. Her father was at the ceremony and he offered her the chance to return to Vulcan. Emily politely declined as she’d already asked for a transfer to a nearby Starbase. She preferred the stable life aboard a base unlike the constant disruption of a Starship.

She remained on the Starbase until deciding to leave five years later.
